Taiyo Kogyo Corporation

(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Hidefumi Araki), a “membrane manufacturer” that handles large membrane surface structures (tent structures) and other products, participated in the construction of a second plant planned by PRIMIX Corporation (Head Office: Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture; President: Hisashi Furuichi), a professional emulsifier, dispersion, mixer and stirrer manufacturer. (Head Office: Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture; President: Hisashi Furuichi), a professional manufacturer of emulsifiers, dispersing machines, mixers, and agitators, and successfully completed a large-scale plant with a membrane structure on May 24.

The project started as a plant for assembling large agitators on a site adjacent to the headquarters and plant. The membrane structure was highly evaluated and adopted.
Plant 2 is a large-scale facility with a frontage of 25.7 m x depth of 47.8 m x height of 20.2 m and a total floor area of 1206.49 m2. The single-sloped roof is made of white noncombustible membrane material, making it the largest plant facility in recent years*1 with the same specifications of a membrane structure (architectural specifications that combine metal walls and membrane roof). (Address: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; Representatives: Kohsuke Okuda and Tatsuya Horii), the architectural plan for the building was drawn up by OHArchitecture, Inc. The depth of the wall surface is also made uneven like a folding screen, giving it a three-dimensional effect and a varied appearance.
Since the construction work started in December last year, it took only five months to complete the building, a significant reduction in construction time compared to conventional construction methods. A 20+ meter wide crane is now in full operation in the completed plant, and bright, open light from the membrane structure pours into every corner of the large space, where large trucks can easily be brought in and out.

Ltd. commented, “With the completion of the second plant, the assembly area for agitators will be doubled and the assembly workability of large machines will be improved. We will strengthen our integrated production system at the head office/factory and aim to shorten delivery times and further improve quality.” The new plant, completed against the backdrop of a vast location overlooking Osaka Bay, is expected to be a symbol of further progress.
Through its participation in this project, Taiyo Kogyo has solved the “problems” of its customers with its membrane structure. Going forward, Taiyo Kogyo will continue to catch various “problems” and contribute to customers and society by establishing a supply system that includes prime contractor construction.

*1: Based on our research. Construction of the same specifications is generally limited to 1000m2.

The following is an overview of Primix Corporation and Plant No. 2.

(Business)

  • Manufacturing, sales and system engineering of equipment for emulsification, dispersion, kneading and atomization of liquids and powders
  • Hard and soft research on emulsification and dispersion and development of new products

Outline of Plant No. 2

  • Location: 1-38 Yumebutai, Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture
  • Structure: Frame and membrane structure, 1 story
  • Dimensions: 25.7m (frontage) x 47.8m (depth) x 20.2m (height)
  • Total floor area: 1,206.49 square meters
  • Specifications: Roof: noncombustible membrane material, exterior walls: stainless steel sheet and galvalume steel sheet
  • Design: OHArchitecture Inc.
  • Reasons for using membrane structures: The lightweight nature of membranes makes them suitable for large-span buildings with few columns. Shortened construction period can be achieved by reducing the amount of steel frame, etc. Due to points, etc.
