Expanded sales of children’s playground equipment “Fluffy Dome” indoor installation

(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura), a manufacturer of large membrane surface structures (tent structures) and civil engineering and logistics materials, has been deploying its “Fluffy Dome” membrane trampoline playground equipment for children in parks nationwide. Traditionally popular as outdoor playground equipment, the “Fluffy Dome” has been increasingly installed in indoor playgrounds in recent years due to severe cold temperatures and windy weather. Since the beginning of this year, installation was completed at AEON MALL Hiroshima Fuchu (Hiroshima Prefecture) in April and ASTE Kawanishi (Hyogo Prefecture) in August. As the number of indoor children’s playgrounds is expected to increase in the future, we will continue to strengthen sales of Fluffy Dome for indoor use.

The “Fluffy Dome” is a membrane trampoline that utilizes the power of air. It is a piece of playground equipment that allows children to enjoy using their entire body, flying, bouncing, and sliding by themselves and with others. Children can play with ingenuity and have fun while developing their physical and leg strength. Boasting high customer attraction, this playground equipment is popular at parks and other facilities throughout Japan. Air is fed into the dome, which consists of a double membrane, to inflate the entire dome. The internal pressure of the dome is kept constant by blowing a certain amount of air and exhausting air, allowing for economical operation. To date, the dome has been installed in more than 200 outdoor playgrounds throughout Japan, and in 2020 it received the 14th Kids Design Award (Kids Design Award) from the Kids Design Council, a non-profit organization, for products that take children and child-bearing and child-rearing into consideration.

With the recent increase in the number of indoor playgrounds, we have installed “Fluffy Dome” for indoor use in a total of 9 locations since its first installation in Yokohama in 2019 and in 2 locations this year. In April 2024, the Japan Park Facilities Association issued the “Safety Standard for Playground Equipment JPFA-SP-S:2024” ( https://www.jpfa.or.jp/jpfa-sp-s2024 /The revised standard, the first revision in 10 years, newly expands the scope of “indoor playground equipment” to meet the recent increase in the number of indoor playgrounds . The two indoor “Fluffy Dome” facilities that Taiyo Kogyo installed this year are compliant with the new standards. Taiyo Kogyo has also been certified as an “SP Indication Certified Company” with a management system that meets the “JPFA-QSMS Standard” and has established strong voluntary standards for safety measures.

We see this growing need as an opportunity and will begin full-scale sales expansion not only for outdoor use but also for indoor playground equipment. In addition to creating a new brochure with information on indoor adoption, we will strengthen our sales activities to private businesses such as shopping malls and entertainment facilities.
