(Tokyo headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka headquarters: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura; hereafter “Taiyo Kogyo”), a company involved in large-scale membrane structures (tent structures) and civil engineering and logistics materials, has constructed a membrane roof for Yumeshima Station on the Osaka Municipal High Speed Rail (Osaka Metro) Chuo Line, which will be opened on Sunday, January 19, 2025. The roof will be extended from Cosmosquare Station to Yumeshima Station. Yumeshima Station, a new station extended from Cosmosquare Station, will be the gateway to the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which will begin on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Taiyo Kogyo was awarded the contract to design, fabricate, and install the membrane roof. The membrane roof, erected at the end of the station concourse and ticket gates, will provide a bright and open space for visitors. Visitors will be greeted by one of the largest signage installations in Japan, approximately 55 meters wide, and by a light gate.
The membrane roof is made of PTFE membrane material, which was selected for its safety, lightness, and high durability based on our experience in membrane structure construction.
*Titanium oxide photocatalyst: Absorbs sunlight (ultraviolet rays) to oxidize and decompose organic matter. Therefore, when sunlight hits the titanium dioxide photocatalyst film material, it decomposes organic stains. In addition, titanium dioxide photocatalyst has a hydrophilic function, and water droplets spread horizontally to form a water film. Therefore, rainwater enters between the surface of the membrane material and the dirt, lifts the dirt up, and the rain washes the dirt away.
Yumeshima Station, which opened prior to the opening of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, has a vaulted entrance from the first basement level, and the ground level entrance is covered by a membrane roof over its entire length. The new station is located in the northeast area of the Expo, and visitors enter the Expo site through the East Gate from Yumeshima Station. It will take only 30 minutes from JR Osaka Station or Umeda Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, including transfers, and is expected to serve more than 130,000 visitors per day during the Expo period.
