(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura; hereinafter “Taiyo Kogyo”), a company engaged in large-scale membrane surface structures (tent structures) and civil engineering and logistics materials, has implemented a corporate version of Furusato Tax Payment to Minamihoro Town, Pibu Town, and Kamikawa Town in Hokkaido. This corporate version of Furusato tax payment is a donation to be used for local educational projects centering on “Manabi-ba”, a long-term vacation support project conducted by Koelwa Co.
■Comments from municipal representatives
Mayor Teiji Osaki of Minamihoro Town
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Taiyo Kogyo for their generous donation to our town’s educational program. The learning opportunities provided by Koelwa, with its staff of university students from all over the country and their enthusiastic guidance, are very valuable learning opportunities.
We would like to express our respect to Koelwa’s challenge and Taiyo Kogyo’s support for their efforts, and ask that you continue your efforts to enhance the educational environment.
Teiji Osaki Mayor of Minamihoro
Hibu Town Mayor Kazunori Muranaka
Pibu Town, a “town of ski slopes and strawberries,” has a population of approximately 3,400 and is home to the Yumepirika brand of rice. There is no high school in the town, and the town has only one compulsory school, which is an integrated elementary and junior high school. The town aims to “provide a place for experiences to acquire the ability to live” as something it can do for the children who have been fortunate enough to become Hibu’s children, and as part of this effort, the town has been conducting Ashiterapippu (learning place project) for the past three years.
However, the financial situation has been so severe that the continuation of the program was in jeopardy. We would like to express our sincere appreciation and continue our efforts to create a place of experience for children.
Hibu Town Mayor Kazunori Muranaka
Mayor of Kamikawa Town Mitsuhide Nishiki
Thank you very much for your donation to the corporate version of Furusato Tax. Your donation will be a great help to support education in Kamikawa Town. Thanks to your support, we will be able to further enhance the learning opportunities for our students and become a powerful driving force in building their future.
We in Kamikawa Town are a region rich in nature, and we will strive to improve the quality of education for the children who grow up in this blessed environment. By working together as one, the entire community can create an environment that maximizes the potential of our children. We will continue to work together with the community to improve the quality of education. We look forward to your continued support.
KAMIKAWA Town Mayor Mitsuhide NISHIKI
Koelwa Corporation President Yoto Asonuma commented.
We are very pleased and sincerely grateful for Taiyo Kogyo’s support through the corporate version of the Hometown Tax Payment System to continue to host our Manabi-jo program.
We believe that this donation from Taiyo Kogyo, which has little contact with the education business, is based on the corporate philosophy of the Taiyo Group, which is to “expand the world of possibilities for children in the community,” and that the donation was made in sympathy with the purpose of this project.
With a sense of responsibility that we have been entrusted with a part of achieving our philosophy, we will strive to make even the smallest contribution to the creation of a soft and warm society.
Mr. Yoto Asonuma, Representative of Koelwa
Comments from Yumi Nomura, President and Representative Director of Taiyo Kogyo Corporation
We have made a donation in support of Koelwa’s “Manabi-no-jo” project and the development and promotion of an educational support scheme utilizing the corporate version of Furusato Tax.
In a situation where it is difficult to secure financial resources for educational and cultural projects in small-population areas, we will support the development of the next generation of human resources in a small way, aiming for the “soft and warm” future society that the Taiyo Group wants to create.
Yumi Nomura, President and Representative Director, Taiyo Kogyo
What is the "Learning Field" Project?
Koelwa’s “Manabi-ba” is an educational support program for elementary, junior high, and senior high school students that is offered mainly over a four-day period, and is commissioned by small municipalities (population under 10,000) in Hokkaido. University student staff from across the country and Koelwa staff team up to provide customized content for each region, such as subject study support and inquiry-based learning. Through workshops and dialogues that take advantage of local characteristics, the program aims to develop students’ ability to think and express themselves. In addition, the program is designed in cooperation with local boards of education and schools, contributing to the improvement of the local educational environment.
