Mold-resistant EVA-running flexible container bag developed.

(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura), a manufacturer of large membrane surface structures (tent structures), civil engineering and logistics materials, has recently developed a running-type flexible container bag using EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), which is mold resistant. The new product is a running-type flexible container bag made of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), which is mold resistant. The product, which uses an anti-mold additive that complies with the positive list system for food utensils, containers, and packaging, will be sold and rented in earnest from this month as “Anti-mold EVA Ticon”.

Flexible container bags are used as logistics materials for transporting food products such as rice, wheat, potatoes, and powdered foodstuffs. These large, durable, strong bags are a convenient and economical logistics material that can deliver about one ton of food in bags. However, after the contents are discharged, mold can form on the membrane surface due to food residues adhering to the bag. This time, we have succeeded in developing a new anti-mildew base material with new performance that does not generate such mold.

We offer flexible container bags, called “running type,” for sale or rental, which are washed and used many times. The mold-resistant EVA Ticon retains its mold-inhibiting effect even after being washed for more than 700 minutes, which is equivalent to 10 years of actual use. We provide an environmentally friendly logistics environment where materials are not disposable by washing flexible container bags and using them over and over again.

Taiyo Kogyo has been developing this product since 2022 in preparation for the full-scale introduction of “Mildew-proof EVA Ticon”. In outdoor exposure tests, the developed product has shown no mold growth even after being left outdoors for 12 months.
