May is “Flood Prevention Month” Participation in Comprehensive Flood Fighting Exercises in all 9 regions of Japan

Contributing to improving local flood preparedness through the provision of disaster prevention equipment

(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura), a manufacturer of large membrane surface structures (tent structures), civil engineering and logistics materials, is participating in a comprehensive flood prevention exercise held in nine regions of Japan in conjunction with Flood Prevention Month (May 1-31; June in Hokkaido) at the request of the River Techno (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Katsumi Seki). We provide disaster prevention equipment such as the “Delta Tube,” a triangular water tank, and the “McQuick Shelter,” a hybrid air tent, to support the exercises to strengthen the flood prevention system in each region.

■Triangular water bag, a flood prevention tool that replaces sandbags

The triangular water tank (product name: DELTA TUBE) is a long triangular bag made of highly waterproof sheet, which can be extended and laid on the embankment and injected with water to prevent water from overtopping the embankment. The main features are as follows

Triangular structure ensures stable adhesion to the embankment
Superior watertightness prevents overtopping and flooding
– Quick installation by pouring water
Quick deployment by simply injecting water on site
– Lightweight and foldable for easy storage and transportation
Space-saving and efficient management
– Environmentally friendly and resource-conscious
Unlike sandbags, they are not disposable and can be used repeatedly – Triangular waterbags can be used repeatedly – Quickly deployable by simply injecting water on site Can be used repeatedly

The triangular water pails were developed by the River Techno Research Group as an alternative flood prevention tool to sandbags, and have been marketed by Taiyo Kogyo since 2012. Comprehensive flood prevention exercises are conducted using the delta tube in practice.

■McQuick Shelter, which has been utilized for more than 2,700 shelters

The McQuick Shelter is a hybrid air tent that can be quickly and easily set up in the event of an emergency or disaster. It can be set up by four women in 10 to 15 minutes, and it can be used for a wide range of applications, including disaster response headquarters and first-aid stations. More than 2,700 tents have been used, including for medical use during disasters such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
