Supporting startup development in the Kansai region

Taiyo Group Corporation (Head office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President: Yumi Nomura) has invested in the pre-seed fund “THESEED No. 3 Investment Limited Partnership” (“THESEED No. 3”) managed by THE SEED Capital Corporation (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Taiki Hirozawa).

THESEED No. 3 targets investment in pre-seed stage startups, mainly around the time of product release.THE SEED has hosted “Startup Kansai,” a community that provides an opportunity for students in the Kansai region to experience startups and entrepreneurship since 2018, and has built a wide network of entrepreneurs rooted in the region. THE SEED No. 3 supports business growth by such young entrepreneurs mainly in the Kansai region.

We have decided to invest in THE SEED because we agree with the activities of Mr. Hirozawa, who focuses on young talents in Osaka and the Kansai region and actively promotes investment in startups, and everyone at THE SEED. The Taiyo Group was involved in approximately 30 projects at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, and has participated in efforts to realize the Expo’s goal of “designing a future society where life shines brightly. We believe that young leaders in the region will play a central role in paving the way for a future based on the principles of the Expo. We will do our utmost to work together with these young leaders to realize the Group’s philosophy of “a soft and warm society of the future” while making use of the Fund’s network.

While Taiyo Group’s efforts at the Expo have attracted widespread attention in the Kansai region, I would like to express my sincere respect for their deep passion for regional revitalization, as exemplified by Yodocon, and their long history.
I myself grew up in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, and went on to Kwansei Gakuin University. At that time, I experienced firsthand the difficulty of finding startup opportunities and contacts with the management of historic companies. That is why we have been conducting “Startup Kansai,” an event to create contacts with startups and investment in the Kansai region since the start of the fund.
We hope that with the help of the Taiyo Group, we can use this investment to help new talent spread its wings from the Kansai region. We hope to work together to bring better opportunities to young, talented entrepreneurs.
