Membrane roof installed on “Roof Terrace” at Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu

(Tokyo headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka headquarters: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura; hereafter “Taiyo Kogyo”), a company involved in large-scale membrane surface structures (tent structures) and civil engineering and logistics materials, has designed, manufactured, and constructed the membrane roof above the “Roof Terrace,” a new large roof plaza in the fourth phase of the “Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu,” which will have its grand opening on June 23, 2025. (Taiyo Kogyo) has designed, manufactured, and constructed the membrane roof above the “Roof Terrace,” a newly built large-roof plaza. This project is part of the facility expansion aimed at evolving into a “stay-and-go outlet,” and the use of membrane roofing has realized an event and rest space that is comfortable even in the rain.

A new relaxation plaza has been built in the popular shopping spot “Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu. The beautiful membrane roof provides a bright and open space surrounded by natural light even during the daytime, while the “all-weather” plaza can be used safely in the rain or strong sunlight. It is a multi-purpose area that can be used for eating, drinking, events, sports experience, etc., and has become a new place to stay that attracts many people as a place to take a break from shopping, have a snack, or as a stage for lively weekend events.

The membrane roof of the roof terrace is made of titanium dioxide, a photocatalytic membrane material. This membrane has a self-purifying function that breaks down dirt (organic matter) on its surface when exposed to ultraviolet rays from sunlight, and its hydrophilic properties enable rainwater to float and wash away dirt. This not only keeps the surface looking beautiful for a long time, but also contributes to reducing the burden of maintenance. At night, lighting softly envelops the entire membrane, creating an impressive landscape.
