Tent warehouse solves the problem of "temperature control inside the warehouse

(Tokyo headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka headquarters: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura), a company that handles large membrane structures (tent structures), civil engineering and logistics materials, and other products, has been contracted by KI Fresh Access Co. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Wataru Tanaka) for the design and construction of an extension to the Flex House C&W, a tent warehouse capable of retaining cold and heat, to be completed in November 2025.

The Saitama Kawagoe Service Center of the company sorts and refrigerates fruits and vegetables for delivery to supermarkets and other customers. The center is built and managed according to different temperature zones: 15°C in the sorting area, and 1°C and 10°C in the refrigerated storage area.
In the past, the center stored products that could be stored at room temperature in the 10°C warehouse. This time, by establishing a new tent warehouse, Flex House C&W, which controls temperatures below 25°C even in summer, the center has been able to optimize the management of each of the three temperature zones and furthermore, to manage the increasing number of products handled with the aim of maintaining quality.

Flex House C&W is a tent warehouse with cool and warm functions. The dual-membrane system and air conditioners solve the problem of temperature control inside the warehouse, which has been an issue with conventional tent warehouses. The use of titanium oxide photocatalytic membrane material on the outside and heat-insulating membrane material on the inside prevents the surface temperature of the roof from being transferred to the inside, improving heat and cold retention effects. In addition, the titanium oxide photocatalytic membrane material has a solar reflectivity of over 75% and suppresses temperature rise inside the warehouse, while it also has a high antifouling performance that maintains a white appearance for a long time by decomposing organic dirt and allowing rainwater to wash it away. Flex House, our proprietary membrane construction method that achieves short construction period and low cost, has higher environmental performance than ordinary buildings. By using lightweight membrane materials for the roof and walls, the amount of supporting steel frame can be reduced, and piling work is no longer required, resulting in a short construction period of 5 months from the start of foundation work.
