Creating a Safe and Secure Community

Disaster Agreement

In Japan, a country prone to earthquakes, typhoons, and other disasters, the conclusion of disaster support agreements by local governments is an indispensable response measure. We have concluded disaster relief agreements with local governments so that we can provide immediate support with our disaster prevention products and technologies based on membrane technology in the event of a large-scale disaster. In addition to "large tents" that can be used for temporary storage and first-aid stations, we also supply civil engineering materials and disaster relief supplies to support early recovery and maintenance of living and sanitary conditions in the affected areas.
We currently have 62 agreements in place with various municipalities throughout Japan.
As of March 2024

Disaster prevention training, disaster prevention festival (exhibition)

In Japan, where disasters are common, it is important to be able to quickly stop damage and ensure people's safety in the event of a disaster. To improve local disaster preparedness, we participate in disaster drills and disaster prevention exhibitions in cooperation with local governments, aiming to realize a society in which people can live in peace.

Overseas Disaster Relief

MHI has been conducting relief activities in disaster-stricken areas overseas, and provided air tents (Mc-Quick Shelters) through World Vision Japan, a non-profit organization, for the February 2023 earthquake in southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria. The shelters were used as bases for health and medical activities and as protection centers. We will make every effort to provide disaster relief not only domestically but also globally.

Coexistence with local communities

ONE TAIYO Clean Walk (community cleanup volunteer activities)

Three Taiyo Group companies (Taiyo Kogyo, TSP Taiyo, and ACTIO) regularly hold the "ONE TAIYO Clean Walk" to contribute to the local community and promote interaction among group employees.
Participants wear matching "ONE TAIYO GUNGAMI" and start walking in the morning to collect trash around their offices. The number of participating offices and employees has increased with each passing year.
During the cleanup activities, local residents have asked the name of the company and expressed their appreciation, and the event has been a great success in building a sense of camaraderie as well as a connection with the local community.

Comprehensive Collaborative Agreement with Government

We have concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Yodogawa Ward Office in Osaka City. As part of efforts to raise awareness of local disaster prevention, we held a summer vacation project for parents and children in Yodogawa Ward, including a lecture by a disaster prevention specialist, making slippers and raincoats, and displaying disaster items.

Fostering the Next Generation

Next Generation Management Factory Tour

MHI contributes to the development of the next generation of management. We invite incoming presidents and other senior executives to our Hirakata Plant (Osaka Prefecture) and Mizuho Plant (Kyoto Prefecture) to observe the systematic production system of our leading company in membrane structural buildings and to talk with production personnel.

Giving Classes on Location

In 2023, we participated in a career development project at Hirakata City Daiichi Junior High School, a vocational lecture at Takatsuki City Dai-ninth Junior High School, and a lifestyle class at Kigawaminami Elementary School, contributing to STEAM education and expanding awareness and appeal of membranes by providing educational materials on the topic of membranes for integrated learning. We also participated in activities to expand awareness of our company and the appeal of membranes by having our educational materials on the theme of membranes utilized in integrated learning.

Providing inquiry-based classroom materials to the "STEAM Library

We are providing video teaching materials under the theme of "The Power of Membranes, Overriding Common Sense" for the STEAM Library Ver. 2, which was created as a future classroom demonstration project developed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. By providing educational materials that can be used in inquiry-based learning, we are contributing to the realization of cyclical learning between "knowing" and "creating.

Tokai University Kengaku Festival

Our company is involved in the construction of a work by students of Tokai University's School of Architecture and Urban Design, "School of Architecture and Urban Design Pavilion Project". The project is part of the "Introductory Seminar," a required course for first-year students of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, with approximately 350 students participating. Students work in groups to formulate a design proposal based on the theme of "Surrounding XX," and then proceed in groups to build a model, make a presentation, and then design the implementation of the project, giving shape to their ideas.
The grand prize-winning work was unveiled at the Kengaku Festival at the small plaza in front of the Matsumae Memorial Hall on the university's Shonan Campus.
