Comment
Mr. Genichi Hatanaka, Mayor of Kyotamba Town
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to conclude this agreement today. Taiyo Kogyo built its plant in the former Mizuho Town (before the merger with Tamba Town and Wachi Town) and has contributed greatly to the development of the town and employment. Disasters in Japan are becoming more serious every year, and even in the Kyotamba area, which is said to be relatively disaster-free, we cannot afford to be complacent. The safety and security of the town’s residents is fundamental to community development, and we feel it is important to be prepared on a daily basis for unpredictable natural disasters. Our town has strengthened cooperation with related organizations, various groups, and business establishments in the town, and has always been committed to disaster prevention measures. We are also very pleased to be the first town in Kyoto Prefecture to conclude an agreement with Mizuho Plant, which is located in the town. We are very reassured that through the conclusion of this agreement, we will be able to provide significant assistance in disaster countermeasures, which is a key factor in protecting the safety and security of the town’s residents.
Yumi Nomura, President and Representative Director, Taiyo Kogyo
We are very pleased to welcome this disaster agreement with Kyotamba Town. The large tents that we deploy after disasters are used not only as evacuation shelters for disaster victims, but also as storage areas for relief supplies gathered in the event of a disaster, and as reception areas and activity centers for volunteer groups. We also provide temporary facilities for events, such as temporary toilets and power generation equipment. Taiyo Kogyo’s Mizuho Plant is the largest of Taiyo Kogyo’s domestic and overseas plants. The Mizuho Plant manufactures large stadium-class products, and since products manufactured in Kyotanbacho are delivered to countries around the world, we consider it a very important base in our global strategy. Although the agreement is a start, and a disaster may be the beginning, Taiyo Kogyo will continue to firmly support the people of Kyotamba Town.
