(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura), a company involved in large-scale membrane structures (tent structures), civil engineering and logistics materials, has been awarded a contract to design and construct a food processing plant and community facility called “Morimachi Laboratory” for Sano Farm (Head Office: Mori-machi, Shuchi-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture; President: Motohiro Sano), a farm in the famous corn-producing town of Morimachi, Shizuoka Prefecture. (headquartered in Morimachi, Shuchi-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture; President: Motohiro Sano), a farmer in Morimachi, Shizuoka Prefecture, famous for its corn production, for the design and construction of the “Morimachi Laboratory.

Supporting the 6th industrialization of famous farms

Morimachi Laboratory is a new facility of Sano Farm, a farmer in Morimachi, Shizuoka Prefecture, famous for its corn production. The company’s original brand of corn, “Mori no Okimi,” attracts many customers from all over Japan who come to purchase directly from the farm. The Morimachi Laboratory has now been completed, which will be used as a new food processing plant and also allow for interaction with local residents. Mr. Sano, the owner of the facility, created the facility with the enthusiasm to “involve a variety of people and try new things to make Morimachi more exciting as a whole.

Completed in only 5 months with a greatly reduced environmental impact

The use of membrane materials in buildings significantly reduces the environmental impact compared to conventional buildings that use a lot of concrete and other materials. Membranes are lightweight and reduce the amount of steel used, greatly reducing the environmental impact of transportation. The lightweight material composition also allows for a strong earthquake-resistant structure, making it ideal for factories and other applications. In addition, completion of construction was achieved in only five months from the start of construction, greatly reducing labor and other construction costs.

A facility that makes abundant use of solar energy was created.

The Morimachi Laboratory uses a tented roof. Tent roofs can transmit about 11% of sunlight, allowing for a brightly lit interior during the daytime without the use of lighting. No lighting is required during the daytime, saving electricity consumption. The bright interior, which takes advantage of nature’s bounty, will be used not only as a food processing plant, but also as a community that enlivens the region, and as a new place for relaxation with a view to holding workshops, communication with stakeholders, and even food events!
