Taiyo Kogyo Corporation

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the victims of the earthquake that struck southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria on February 6, and we sincerely hope for the earliest possible recovery of the affected areas.

Taiyo Kogyo Corporation (Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura), a company involved in large membrane structures (tent structures) and civil engineering and logistics materials, will provide 10 air tents (product name: McQuick Shelter) for relief activities in disaster areas through Yusen Logistics Co. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroyuki Okamoto) and through the non-profit organization World Vision Japan (Nakano Ward, Tokyo). The air tents will be used to protect the lives of children and people in the affected areas and help them rebuild their lives in cooperation with World Vision’s emergency and reconstruction assistance projects that have been underway since February in northwestern Syria, where a major earthquake has caused extensive damage. Specifically, the project plans to use the facility as a base for health and medical activities and as a “Child Friendly Space,” a safe and secure place for children to spend time. A total of 10 air tents can be used by about 100 people at the same time.

After the Turkey-Syria earthquake occurred, we consulted with various organizations on how and where to transport and provide tents to support the victims as soon as possible, but it was not easy due to the confusion in the affected areas. However, due to the confusion in the affected areas, it was not easy. The 10 tents are scheduled to be delivered to selected evacuation areas in northwestern Syria in early April. In addition to the 10 tents, World Vision Japan is also providing funds to cover the costs of its activities.

Air tents offered

The McQuick Shelter is a hybrid air tent that can be set up quickly and easily in an emergency or disaster. It can be set up by four women in 10-15 minutes. It demonstrates immediate response capability for a wide range of applications, including disaster response headquarters and first-aid stations. More than 2,700 tents have been used in the past, including for medical use during disasters such as the Great East Japan Earthquake.
